We have been a Tonies household for almost a year now, and we have loved every moment with them! We use it throughout the day, but it is primarily built into our morning and evening routines. In the morning, we use it for our screen-free mornings, where we have a slower start to our day. We usually put on Healthy Habits Tonie or Daniel Tiger while we make and eat breakfast. At night, we put it on to start unwinding after we’ve read a book. We let our daughter pick which Tonie she wants to listen to while we lie in bed and talk about our day, then start quiet time where we cuddle and relax. If that Tonie ends and she’s still awake, she can pick another Tonie that has a story or one of the lullaby Tonies that just play music.

Toniebox Original and Toniebox 2

We got the original Toniebox for our daughter’s birthday in April, and the Toniebox 2 for Christmas because we loved the original. Some notes about the different Tonieboxes:

  • The original Toniebox comes with a charging dock, making it easy for toddlers and young children to have the independence to put their Toniebox on the charger when needed.

  • The Toniebox 2 comes with a USB-C charging cable, which is NOT toddler- or young child-friendly.

  • Both are easy to set up and use, and the basic functions are the same - especially important for toddlers and young children. You can easily set it up in the Tonies App and set up the max volume.

  • The Toniebox 2 is compatible with their new Tonies, the Tonieplay. We have not bought any yet, but I do have a few on my wishlist that I think we will pick up for her birthday in a few months.

Out of the two Tonieboxes, I recommend the original Toniebox if you’re buying it for a toddler, mostly due to the charging dock - your toddler can build independence early on, and you can start to build routines. I would recommend the Toniebox 2 if your child is already 3+ years old and you are okay with plugging it in for them until they are old enough to understand how to safely plug it in themselves. I also don’t see a toddler understanding how to use the Tonieplay until at least 3 years old, and even then, for the first few months after introducing it to them, I think they will need help learning how to use it.

Don’t forget, you’re learning along side them. You don’t have to have all the answers; you’re doing great! - 💕 Krysti
